    Improved Combat Uniform

I'll stick to my MARK III for as long as they're in service. They're not heavy and warm like the cumbersome GORTEX boots...and you don't slide on ice. I might take 30 seconds longer to lace them up, but I can walk and run faster and farther in them, especially when they're wet.

    Packing a Ruck

On basic, my WO used to sing Barbie Girl to the whole platoon. Then some song about "...enlisted newfoundlanders, come follow me", then he would start singing Great Big Sea... My mind was gone after 10 k.

    Improved Combat Uniform

The CadPat boot project was canned. It was tested in Petawawa for a few months, apparently, no one liked them.

Cold Warrior Question - Who Would Have Won?

In WW2, Russia was a slow, lumbering giant. When they finally got their schtick together, they were a force to be reckoned with. However, there is, and was too much corruption to make it a viable fighting force (conventionally anyway). After cutting off some of thier supply lines, which were in...

    PAY INCREMENT

If you're getting posted to a field unit, you're going to get LDA. That said, there are other allowances for different things in the CF. Learn as much as you can about your pay and benefits, because when you get your pay stub and there's either too much or too little, being educated in this...

    Family Care Plan (FCP) [Merged]

I'm going to forward this doc to some of my "clerk-net". I can't believe you took the time to draft an SOP for doc updating, I admire your work ethic. As a reminder to all those reading this thread, see your clerks to make sure that your docs are updated. In many cases, the clerks forget...

University Training Plan NCM (UTPNCM) 2005 - 2018 [Merged]

Your pay will show up as your current rate of pay. Don't worry, if you have competant clerks, then they will input this correctly and you won'tr even notice, unless you're paying attention (which you shoudl be doing, it's your pay). If you're going Reg F, then you're going to be getting your...

    Keep Politics Away From Forces

We all have our own individual, unalienable rights, as natural humans. To say that we are not allowed to flaunt our political status is as bad as the US military "don't ask, don't tell" policy. I, myself, do not have any political status, just adding my 2-cents......before taxes. Politics...

    Petawawa Bi-athlon?

I like where this thread is going...."Either way more sports/events/competitions in the CF should equal more knowledgeable trainers or training programs so its good in my book"...,Bring back PERI!!!!!! But wait, that might cost the CF some money. Let's stick to PSP staff

Physical Fitness (Jogging, Diet, Cardiovascular, and Strength )

This is a reply for every person who posted on here. Do these things: Cardio:  High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) - Look it up and do it instead of typical endurance training (useless). Strength / Endurance: Circuit training is ALWAYS best. Do some research on full-body workouts and apply...

The Importance of proper grammar on this forum AND in the CF

Bottom Line: You are not going to be able to communicate your intent to others if you do not know how to communicate effectively. Another area which must be considered is Professionalism. Nobody is going to take you seriously if you spell like a ten-year-old, and have questions marks where...

Friendly Advice for potential Infantry Officer candidates

I believe that there's a time and a place for everything. There are situations where it might be necessary to jump into a problem headfirst and react to things as they come, because it could save precious time and by extension, lives. In order to be effective at this method, you must detach...

    Age Limits to Join

I was enrolled into the CF (PRes) at age 16 in 1999. I turned 17 before going on my QL3 Infantry. I was a full-time student this time period. So, not much has changed. :-\

    Petawawa Bi-athlon?

I'm sure that if enough members are interested the policy would change. After all, persistence is the key to success. I would drive from North Bay to compete in an event such as this.....hell, I've done enough section attacks across the Mattawa Plains, lol.
