Having trouble getting medical care after tour

It is your right to use the Ombudsman ... that being said, if you have not exercised all possible avenues i.e. proper chain of command to that point then they will not address your file. I've gone to the Ombudsman twice so far in 12 years and both times it has solved my issues, but that was not...

Having trouble getting medical care after tour

document document document, if they say they can't or won't, or tell you to wait out get them to put it in writing. Do through chain of command, DVA etc, but if you're still getting unfair treatment you have the Ombudsman and /or the media if it's that bad.

New vehicles for JTF 2 and Canadian Special Operations Regiment

I guess if it's already in use then it's a step ahead. I'm just looking at the mobility of the ELSORV, the other vehicle looks big and not as mobile, but if it's proven then it's proven.

New vehicles for JTF 2 and Canadian Special Operations Regiment

think they'd be better off with the ELSORV platform ... chop the top, roll cage, mounted weapons etc. Basically faster, better off-road, and more reliable by the looks of it. Pics here, http://www.imagereferencedatabase.com/myadmin/photogallery/navigate-242-242-0.html

    The Great Boot Review

Been wearing Magnums in Garrison and the field with no issues since 05'. Wore Magnums in Afgh and they were great while mounted. Dismounted I found they didn't provide much in the way of insulation from the heat of the ground. Never have worn Swats yet. I'm wearing the newest Magnums right now...

Skydex Helmet Pad Kit - LOTS of pictures

definately one of the better pieces of non-issue kit I've bought. I used an under armour skull cap with the pads in Afg, in Canada don't wear anything else under the helmet.

Canadian Army Prohibits Purchase of Commercial Kit

A great senior NCO once said, "A soldier shouldn't have to adapt to his kit, he should adapt his kit to his job."

Think Tank Analysis of Taliban Campaign in Kandahar

the Afghans still have to like and support the ANA for it to be effective. What is the center of gravity in Afghanistan?

Think Tank Analysis of Taliban Campaign in Kandahar

doctrine wise it was successful, it killed the enemy and was a large scale OP with a lot of moving parts yes I recognize that. BUT looking at the effects it potentially had on the population was it a success or a step back?

    In Fight ... Taliban Magazine

Did the link work for anyone else, think you might need a login. If you have a DIN account it shouldn't be a problem, but not sure for the retired or civi types here. Either way go to this page, http://www.siteintelgroup.com/ You can send an email to OSI via din and get a username Yeah morale...

Think Tank Analysis of Taliban Campaign in Kandahar

Sorry I wasn't aware that your post count was the deciding factor of having a valid point. Everybody has always claimed Medusa as the golden child of Afghan operations, hind sight being 20/20 operations like that does not win in a COIN environment. I'm guessing that you've read the COIN...

Think Tank Analysis of Taliban Campaign in Kandahar

Speaking of effects ... anyone who still actually thinks hat OP Medusa was a successful Op should shake their heads! Back to effects, by killing off un-told numbers of Tier 1, 2 and 3 Insurgents during Medusa what secondary and tertiary effects do you think would have spun from this. The...

    In Fight ... Taliban Magazine

Came across an insurgent magazine online. Basically their version of a morale killer IMO. Most pics are taken from open source but by the looks of it a few are taken by them. http://sitemultimedia.org/docs/SITE_InFight_Taliban17.pdf

Alleged police attack may nix soldier's Afghan tour

This isn't the first time that something like this happened between Fredericton Police and members of the military. Imagine what's not making the news though ...  :o

CRTC approves Al Jazeera for Canadian viewers

I'd definitely watch it. From what I've heard / seen so far they are more credible than fox, or CNN where they allow all sides to weigh in on various stories. I don't know why people get so up in arms about a middle eastern news station.

Should Canada adopt the LAV III (AKA: Stryker) as its primary armoured vehicle family?

Actually, I didn't mind that mine had a C-6 mounted instead of a .50 in Afghanistan. Reason being was that a C-6 will give you a higher rate of fire, plus you can fit a lot more rounds in the ammo can of the RWS. Granted the .50 has more stopping power, but would come in handy for uparmoured Ins...
