Army Communication & Information Systems Specialists (Sig Op, Lineman and LCIS Amalgamation)

A+ Thread. Nice to come read updates every now and then. Former LCIS getting spec pay unfrozen? Great ...but not all of the ones that qualified got it because of weird cut off dates...sounds about right. LCIS guys don't even have test equipment at my unit. They haven't been able to fix a...

Army Communication & Information Systems Specialists (Sig Op, Lineman and LCIS Amalgamation)

Everyone get the email about the cap badge/collar dogs/other that they were looking to change? Pretty sure I got it by accident by ex-CoC because no one in my current unit had a clue about it. Is there an actual vote that is going to happen, and are the younger troops having a say like the...

Army Communication & Information Systems Specialists (Sig Op, Lineman and LCIS Amalgamation)

ACISS has a huge variety of jobs. If you like one aspect of it, you may never actually do it. In 7 years I have done brigade HQ, RRB det, server dets, regimental HQ, squadron signaler, crypto custodian, air-ground-air operator. Then I know people that have done only one of those, or something...

Career progression is going to be based a lot on what subtrade you get into. ACISS core seems to have promoted A LOT of people this year, but from what I heard the CST/IST guys there weren't as many. As well obviously how well you know and do you job, as well as how you play the political game...

    re-assessment question

I am in the same boat. My initial file started to be looked at Aug '14, I requested for their doctors to check it out, but was denied and they said the medical files were enough from CF. Eventually at the end of Feb '15 they granted a favourable decision and said I had to schedule a visit to...

APS 2012 - Housing market in military driven communities

Well I know that you can go on an HHT (which Brookfield frowns on). You either have to have enough cash to put a deposit on a new house or put a condition on your purchase agreement that says pending sale of previous house. Some people don't like dealing with that, some people don't mind, but...

APS 2012 - Housing market in military driven communities

I'm actually getting posted this year to Pet. A few others I know are as well. The issue for such a late HHT is that houses in other military towns aren't selling either. I got my message late April and put the house up a week or so later and it is still on the market. I know a couple guys...

Military Relocation / Posting Policy-Moves [MERGED]

That actually makes some sense at why it was there in the first place...I don't fully agree with it as a person with just a spouse(that only paid $150 for a marriage certificate 5 days before posting) and a person with multiple kids are still getting the same, but who knows, somewhere it made sense.

Military Relocation / Posting Policy-Moves [MERGED]

Same with why does a single member get half a months pay and a family person (0 kids or 10 kids) get full months? Most systems hate on single people.

    Petawawa Thread- Merged

I'm hoping this is my last posting for a while. It is my 2nd move in 2 years and with it a promotion and LDA back I think the the taxes of Quebec shouldn't be an issue. We also have no kids and not going to have them, so school is no problem either. It might not be as easy of a sell for the...

    Petawawa Thread- Merged

I have been looking for a farm near Petawawa and there is a really cheap one in Quebec that is still close to base, about 30-35 minutes. Is there problems with doing something like this admin wise? I realize I have to pay Quebec taxes, but the cost of the house more than makes up for land/value...

Army Communication & Information Systems Specialists (Sig Op, Lineman and LCIS Amalgamation)

If it is supposed to be passed on anyways, can there be a quick write up about it? I know where I am it wasn't passed down at all or even mentioned, unless the information is JSR specific.

    Brain Injury Pension Decisions

For some reason I think I read that CF has more VAC staff per vet than any other country... I think it more likely has to do with the bureaucratic nightmare of paperwork and hard copies of everything. Can't just fax or email, everything has to be mailed to PEI and Quebec

Army Communication & Information Systems Specialists (Sig Op, Lineman and LCIS Amalgamation)

I think that is the issue as well. Those types of people that are already on that career path like to look up information and know that the internet is the better source than anything "officially" posted. When they stumble onto forums that have 50 pages in a thread about how the trade as a...

    Brain Injury Pension Decisions

Yep, 24 weeks seems to be it now, they old switcharoo, tell them it takes 16 weeks, have it take 24, but write up all the reports saying the rate of decisions at 16 weeks is at 80+%. I don't think there is anyone that has had an easy time dealing with VAC over the last year and a bit.

    Disability and Vac

When I got the letter I called right up and asked to be set up as soon as possible. I wasn't going to wait around for them again. Just keep saying "it's already taken 26 weeks, what else needs to be done to finish this" and they eventually patched me to the local VAC that set up the appointment...

    Disability and Vac

Had the same letter. The say it was strictly CF related and approve of it, but it has to be seen by one of their doctors. I had to set up a visit to one of their local ones. It took about a month to get into their doc, and still waiting to hear what they say after. I got a letter saying it...

    Shift Worker leave

Sorry if this has been answered before, but the only topic I found was 5 years old. Where I am it is currently 5 days on(12h shifts) 5 days off. Sometimes things happen and we get booked on ranges or other IBTS required things on our days off. Which is usually not last minute, so there is...

Continued Education during normal work hours

Doing actual school work instead of doing "busy work" always looks better. Depending on rank/job obviously though. If you're a Cpl/Pte all the Cpl/Ptes are out cleaning LAVs, you should be out there with them. If they are all painting rocks, then maybe not.
