    Aerospace Control Officers-AEC [merged]

I may be wrong, but unfortunately it wasn't based on experience, it was based on what our instructors told us on course.

I wouldn't call Moose Jaw complex.  There are two types of aircraft.  No civilians, no overflights.  The least complex of all wings actually.  Its the density of trafffic which makes it hard.

    AEC Numbers

Zahoor, Do you want Air Traffic or Air weapons?  All ATC will now start with IFR.  IFR courses are held twice per year, January and August.  Weapons, there are a few courses per year.  As for going to Winnipeg on OJT, yes you can.  And as for your first posting, that is after graduating from...

    How many waiting for AEC?

Unfortunately this isn't the case.  A lot of people "qualify" for AEC with flying colours and fail miserably.  The CFAT as its been discussed here before, does not accurately predict success in your career course.  Thus the high failure rate.

    May BMOQ?

They started the RegF applicants on the NAVRES BMOQ last year.  All three elements and both components were represented.

    Leadership Potential Assessment Course

Celticgirl is right, it is not a pass/fail, just an instrument for the instructors to see what kind of leadership potential you have.  In hindsight, it is really more of a practice for the big tests in the field, just to get you used to small party taskings.  No one will get sent home for this. ...

    AEC Courses 2009

Well there are 3 different courses he could take at CFSACO.  I'm not on the DIN right now, but probably this summer or fall. If you say what stream he's going, maybe someone on the DIN can find it and help you out.

What Courses should I expect to do???

You'll probably be doing your basic Officer Training in Esquimalt next summer, and if you have the time, NETPO will likely be available to you too (naval environment training), which is a few weeks.  Then the next summer you will do your mars III and mars IV (someone with direct experience can...

    JANUARY 2009 BMOQ

They seem to change the name every course.  And I can think of a few nights where I woke up and seen my breath.  However our field ex's seemed to always happen during rain storms.  People who didn't make good ditches around their hootchies would wake up in a puddle of water.  I'll never forget...

    JANUARY 2009 BMOQ

I guarantee you will take that back after the first night in a hoochie when you go to sleep at 0000 and you are waken up at 0200 to bug out and do a 5km hike in the darkness (because of course you have to go tactical), arrive at your next biv site and set up your hoochie, followed by an hour...

    How to fold 12X12 ( 30X30 )

We had a 12x12 cardboard cutout and folded our clothes around the cutouts.  Worked extremely well.  Its even better if the cutouts are maybe half an inch smaller because the clothes itself will fill in the extra half inch or inch.

Chance of AEC ending up in US first post?

Yeah you're going to get posted to a wing where you will be checked out.  You will do your job while being observed by controllers until you're at a point where you're ok to do it on your own (check out).  Now there have been at least 1 guy that I know that was not given a full posting right...

Chance of AEC ending up in US first post?

After your initial weapons course in Cornwall (2 month or so, I can get you a more concrete answer when I get to work tomorrow),  you get posted to 51 Sqn (which is a training sqn in North Bay), for 3-4 mos.  Kind of similar to an IFR and VFR controller going to an operational unit to get...

Chance of AEC ending up in US first post?

My advice, is send in your application now.  You live in the US so it takes longer to process your file, and from people on here who have been in similar positions, I would suggest you send it in ASAP.  If some miracle happens and they try to put you in soon, you can explain your situation and...

Chance of AEC ending up in US first post?

If you want weapons, you just tell the AF TRG O and he'll put you in weapons, keeping in mind that the needs of the forces will always come first (but right now, if you want it, you just request it and its yours).  Chances of getting a OUTCAN posting right away, well, I'm not in weapons, but...

    Aerospace Control Officers-AEC [merged]

Aerospaced is right with his comment, I can see people failing... multiple times.  Its like everything else, just put in your time and you'll be fine.  What I meant is that its not rocket science, but if you're not willing to work hard, you will find a way to fail.  Just study and you'll be...

    BMOQ question

It depends on the course I believe.  Our platoon officer would throw in extra presentations to work on, where the other platoons didn't have to.  For example, our platoon had to teach the leadership classes.  We were given the CF leadership manual and the power point presentations, and we had to...
