Considering that French & English are Canada's both official languages, being fluent in at least one is highly recommended to serve in the CF. If an officer wants to progress through the ranks, he/she will eventually need to be able to function comfortably in both languages.

I am posted to Trenton and I received an email from my lawyer that I have to pay the tax on my CMHC fees on my closing day. I am a first-time home buyer. Since the CMHC fees are covered via Brookfield, aren't the taxes on the fees also covered?
I am still waiting for a reply from Brookfield...
To avoid all this headache, was it not possible to coincide your move dates with the possession of your PMQ? You're only looking at a few days here and I am sure that these are negotiable with enough notice in advance.
Sounds like this person is lucky they didn't lose their job. This means that for the next 5 years, this person will be a burden on others and someone else will have to be tasked when driving is involved. Something is surely wrong here.
If my subordinates have a sick child or even spouse at home, I have no problems letting them take a sick day to take care of that family member. My policy is not to abuse it and everyone is happy. I agree that anything more than 2 days would require annual or compassionate leave.
I have a question about deployment and the tax free on monthly pay. Does the tax free applied to a member's pay also include PLD? I know that PLD is already taxed and since I am deployed this fall I wanted to know if PLD is also tax free.
The timings of the support group does not conflict with her schedule otherwise she would not raise an issue about being excluded. Her immediate supervisor does not agree with the policy and it's out of her hands. Shearwater falls under Halifax and they set the rules. Don't get me wrong...
Well, I agree that friends and neighbours can offer support but it's nice to interact with others who are in the same situation where their spouses are away for long periods of time. These programs are offered for those reasons and should be made available to everyone. My wife is not military...
I will be deployed from Oct 2009 to Apr 2010 and I need to get some assistance regarding deployment support for my wife.
My wife is a full-time worker at the MFRC in Shearwater and she was advised that she is not allowed to participate in the deployment support since she is a staff member. ...
Ok, I don't think I was very clear. You won't get PLD at both locations, only your primary one. Ex. If your primary residence is Halifax and you are on IR or TD in Borden, you still only get the PLD rate from Halifax, not both Halifax and Borden.
Are there any news of a pay increase this coming April? With the current recession, I am not expecting that we can expect much, but I am sure that others would also appreciate any information on this.
I just got my pay statement for May and the PLD hasn't changed. Is this the same at all bases with PLD changes or just Halifax? Are we now waiting until June before the PLD increase kicks in?
What are the regulations for an IR posting. A friend of mine is moving from Trenton to Borden, but his wife is talking about staying in Trenton. He will take an IR posting but will he still receive the same benefits compared to moving his family?
