The Land Operations Temperate Boots (LOTB)

How very anecdotal. I've seen lots of non-zippered boots fail and I've seen troops overseas wear zippered boots with no problems.  And that was through constant patrolling and hikes in the mountains. I don't like zippered boots personally but I get a kick out of all this uproar in regards to them.

The brown Temperate Combat Boot (AKA: Mk IV Cbt Boot) - No longer CADPAT

The brown Temperate Combat Boot (AKA: Mk IV Cbt Boot) - No longer CADPAT

I was being facetious.  What I was saying was that I could finally become a worthy NCO by having a charge on my pers file. Although I believe politics do play a part, I think that it's a little grandiose to equate the CAF's boot contracts to votes.  That's a serious stretch. First of all...

Cool.  I have always felt a little inadequate when I hear that every NCO worth his salt has had to have been charged at least once in their career.

    CAF Combat boots policy 2005-2018

Hardly worth getting into but... I rarely browse this site all that much.  The thread popped up and I clicked on it and I didn't bother looking at the dates.  Noticed your comment and hence my response.

    CAF Combat boots policy 2005-2018

Actually buds, I didn't pay any attention to the date of your post. I had clicked on the thread seeing it had new responses and the first thing I saw was your post which contained a common misconception (to which I responded). I'm glad it caused you enough distress to feel the need to respond...

    CAF Combat boots policy 2005-2018

Been a Loyal Royal for going on 7 years now and never once have I heard a single person (i.e. RSM/SgtMaj types) complain about anyone's boots.  Not once.

    Improved Combat Uniform

Just to clarify... reservists have the same chance of getting the ICU as anyone else.  Clothing stores is clothing stores.  When you go in to exchange your pants/shirt, you will be given whatever is available, regardless of component. The clothing stores I've been dealing with has been issuing...

"The stuff the army issues is useless" and "no non-issue kit over seas!"

Not only that... when some DLR clown has you trialing something that has effectively been his baby for months or years, and you tell them it's crap, they tend to ignore you and tell you how you're using it wrong.

Well, when it come to boots anyway... I really don't understand where this is an issue.  I've never been anywhere in the last 7 years, other than basic training, where a single person once mentioned anything about non-issued boots. If it's a problem in Quebec, I guess that's because, well, Quebec.

Well their idiots and who cares what they say.  I have more than a couple of friends walking around on pricey prosthetics who weren't wearing issue kit at the time of their injuries.

When was this?  In 7 years I've never even heard a mention of boots... and some people push the limits pretty hard.

    Hybrid electric/"stealth" snowmobiles

I have spent a lot of my life battling to keep diesels running in the cold.  I do not have a ton of experience with anything new other than the new pick up trucks.  If there's a diesel that's as reliable in the cold and easy to start as a gasoline engine, that's (good) news to me. When I said...

Diesel/electric Two things that absolutely love the cold..... And I doubt we'll be seeing any consumer products in this configuration any time soon, or ever.

Scary black guns for legal sale.

I like my 5.56 XCR.  Nice solid gun, good quality.  Bit heavy and definitely pricey.

Tim Hortons in Theatre Merged Thread (in AFG, no plans to preposition)

Relax, I was being facetious. I do at times feel that some work a LOT hard for their money then others, but at the end of the day, I just get on with it.  Just like everything else and how I feel about Timmies.  You say it was a drop in the cucket that amounted to nothing, and I know one...

Yep.  That's why we got the danger and hardship allowances.  Oh wait..... Seriously though, I could give a shit and I wouldn't want to deprive people out of spite. It got to be a little rich at times, and as I said earlier, I'd be happier to see resources devoted elsewhere. And yeah... I knew...
