    Navy Traditions

I still have my large handout that they gave us when I did OSQAB in 90, usually go through it now and then for fun. It did cover a few things in regards to traditions but not as much as I would have liked, but imagine there are lots of good books on that available. I remember when CTV did a...

Couldn't agree more. Other guys on the ship quickly found out who the message center dayman was and you'd always have them asking questions. When you had a good CO and XO (Lofthouse and Bell come to mind), chitchatting on the bridge with the CO. It was great working in a restricted space as it...

    Navy whites

I think it was the year after I got out (messy business), that the USN decided not to attend so we didn't send any ships. It was sad to hear that because it was a good trip, and lots of people visited the ships. I still have my shirt and mug with all the ships that attended the year I was there...

I was actually a good boy my one and only time there....except for getting hammered every waking moment. Wandered into town once for a coffee and checked out a couple USN and USCG boats. Our ships were popular with the locals gals not old enough to drink in local pubsĀ  ;D

Halifax Class vs Iroquois Class in rough seas

I only have Yukon and Algonquin (when it went West) experience to draw upon. When I arrived on the Yukon after my 3's course we set out for AWUPs to W601 in January. Everyone was saying how bad it would be, how sick I would be..etc. but never got seasick, ever. But also seen guys get sick as...

    "Toronto 18" terrorists: Arrest/court/aftermath

Seems to me we were a target long before that. I don't have any evidence, but don't think thats true. I could be fooling myself though. More indepth information on the sampling would be helpful: Political leanings, age, location, that sort of thing. Court

I don't think I breathed a sober breath while in Portland. I think we had enough Sigs onboard that I didn't pull duty there, or if I did I was so hungover I probably was still drunkĀ  ;D It was pretty hot the year that I was there and think the guys giving tours were in their whites. The whites...

Thanks navymich! I'm only in contact with one guy now, Don Morehouse...but he was also my first SHOW and later roommate. OOW Man's could be fun, unless the officer wasn't really squared away. I enjoyed light most of all, and it was interesting that after awhile you saw all those dits and dahs...

    Navy whites

I think I got my whites when I was assigned to the Yukon. Never had them at basic, or at Nelles...and never a need for them at that point. Only wore them once, for change of command on the ship..and got the pants dirty when I sat down to type out the official message. I didn't bother wearing...

I registered to this forum today and noticed this thread. Looks like you've been given some good information on the trade here, but wouldn't mind adding my two cents. I was a NavSig from 1990-1996 (took FRP) and am proud to have been a NavSig. I got out before they put the two trades together...
