    Policy on Clickers?

This is still done today (well.... 2008) when new Guardsmen arrive in Ottawa at "Depot" (aka, Carleton University) for the Intensive Drill Period (work-up training)!  I have my set and most recently took them to St Jean for BMOQ.  Sadly, that was probably the last time I will ever wear my...

    Map Tack (laminate)

I'm just quoting this as it got bumped off the last page by the above comment, and I would still like an answer if anyone has a suggestion! Cheers!

    Map Tack (laminate)

Sorry to bump and old thread but it meets the needs of my question: I am laminating several wide maps tomorrow with the issued "map" (mac) tack.  I have done it before but never with such large pieces.  When doing it in the past I was told that layering the "tack" was bad form, although...

    New Governor General Service Medal?

If the will of the government is behind it, then it will likely happen - but I must take issue with the suggested name.  What ass-hat decided it should be at the behest of the GG? Canada Defence Medal - Okay Queen's Canadian Volunteer Service Medal - Sure! Canadian Volunteer Service Medal -...

Naval Officers Once Again to Wear the Executive Curl

I hope this may  indicate an eventual return to the pip-system for Army officers, and a less-visually-repulsive system for our Air Force officers (aka, the blue-on-blue of our commonwealth contemporaries/historic uniforms).

A Unique Situation, Course Failure, Removal from ROTP

I don't believe that a PSO worth his or her weight would arbitrarily cast someone aside (in a red trade no less), unless there was more of a history to all of this that we're not getting.  Were there no other mitigating circumstances? E.g. A history of transgressions throughout the course?  Its...

    Moving my Vehicle

I realize that this is a very old thread, but I could not find anything relevant which was more recent. My question is simple, I am looking at buying a classic car (37 years old) before I complete my first move.  This will be a summer-only vehicle, in addition to a car I already own.  Will the...

How is my posting likely to work?

Ack all, and thanks all. I'm more trying to determine what has been the recent posting pattern for IntOs.  Is it off to PRETEC O Coy at CFB Borden, or will it be the route which makes sense due to fewer moves (e.g. sending me to OJT/OJE at my first unit)?  Time will tell, although experience...

How is my posting likely to work?

Good Day, I'll keep things short, and if someone wants to respond via PM instead of these means, feel free. I'm currently training via the ROTP, and have completed BMOQ.  I graduate this year, and my COS date is 3 May, 2010 which is when I will be posted to my new unit (not sure of the...

Any Civvy-U/Reservist Students ever done something like this?

The more I think about it, the "battle honour" idea is kinda funny, might be nice to suggest for the course shirt this summer... poke fun at all the sillyness one sees on other shirts.

Any Civvy-U/Reservist Students ever done something like this?

Remember... I'm laughing with you: (but) Hahahahahaha.  I hope you had a t-shirt made up with crossed bayonets, laurel wreaths and battle honours like: MESS HALL SHOWERS A DRILL CLASS POWERPOINT See you in May!

Any Civvy-U/Reservist Students ever done something like this?

I have provided the DND card as a second piece in the past, but other than that, nope.  I also feel bad for people humping small packs around campus - its not like we're working for free, right? Agreed - most "army" I get is if I happen to have a course shirt (etc.) in my gym bag on a given...

Any Civvy-U/Reservist Students ever done something like this?

It must be the water in Guelph  ;) Either that, or that I've been doing "military" stuff since the age of 10 (Navy League, Army Cadets, PRes), and the charm has sort of worn off on me.  I too am not keen on looking like a weiner, and feel that I can seperate the spheres of my life pretty well.

The Irish Regiment of Canada - 1930s

My pleasure! I knew it was a long shot, but like you, I'm "the scum of the earth" - and I mean that in the most flattering of ways possible!

The Irish Regiment of Canada - 1930s

Its not Victor Ramsay's (the name is too faded to tell for certain), but it looks as though it belonged to D. --------  and it seems to have been made in 1928, and it actually has enough pip-holes to have been a Captain's.  I imagine a previous owner must have known Mr. Ramsay!

The Irish Regiment of Canada - 1930s

I don't have the lists, but I have a named Irish Regiment of Canada mess uniform for a 2Lt dating to that era hanging in my closet at home... I'll read the label when I return from the library!
