AOR Replacement & the Joint Support Ship (Merged Threads)

In the right circumstances I think that a light amphibious battle group can be a very credible force. It is just the right type of force to use if you are responding to emergency situations, rescuing Canadians trapped in a foreign country for instance.I would see it as being more of a quick...

AOR Replacement & the Joint Support Ship (Merged Threads)

Kirkhill I just opened up the links you posted previously, very interesting. At a more down to earth army level, they would have to set up a new corps/regiment or perhaps re-train light infantry for an amphibious type role They talk about deploying a battle group I don't know how realistic that...

Kirkhill You asked for my thoughts, bear in mind I am not an expert in amphibious ops. AOR Replacement & the Joint Support Ship (Merged Threads)

Hold on a minute!!-If my memory serves me right didn't the government just announce, well last year, that they were going to commission some new support ships to support heliborne/amphibious operations. If that is correct then it flys in the face of any general trend towards cuts in spending such...

What do you guys think of the talk of this new ' peacekeeping force'?

I agree with your comments George. If you are going to have such a thing as peacekeepers then who better to do the job than well trained professional soldiers. But you are absolutely right when you say that peacekeeping is not a soldiers primary job.

Infantry Parachute Companies, and Airborne after the loss of the CAR.

Can anybody enlighten me as to what happened to the Canadian Airborne after it was disbanded? Does Canada still have an "Airborne Regiment"?
