The ICE is very breathable, under the arms there are zippers that allow air to be circulated all around the jacket, on both layers.  However again, I could only imagine the reaction the RSM would have if someone raised their arm and he could see that they weren't zipped up!

I've CT'd, going to do a whole new DP1, we had them on my SQ, but I never got around to measure them, as they were always taken.  Oh well, I guess I'll just have to do like before, screw up a bunch of times and get yelled at for it, and when the yelling stops realise that I've done it right.  ;)

As someone relatively new to the army, and hoping to get a combat tour, the recent political news is very disheartening.  If the NDP, Bloc and Liberals get their way, I will never see combat, be relegated to garrison, have to do peacekeeping tours where I can't engage those who are firing at me...

I think the greatest flaw in his argument is the fact that he was a reservist.  Reservists are not required to go on tour unless they volunteer for it, so we have to ask, was this guy even part of the army at all.  He seems rather clueless.

I finished two years of university, joined the Res F when I was in my second year, started my third year and it got to me.  I had enough of school, it was boring and I didn't want to go where it was taking me (i.e. a desk).  So I withdrew from school and CT'd to the Reg's.  I'm extremely happy...

I've slept in nothing but the bivy bag, kept me dry and after reveille there wasn't any time to stuff all that other kit away.  So I've come to find that the bivy works fine on its own, only in the summer however.

I put my CT in 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet.  I'm going reg inf and its kind of disheartening to hear and read all of the cries for more guys in the infantry, and here I am waiting to go there.  I don't get the deal with CT's taking longer than new recruits fresh off the streets. ...

A while back I was riding a bus in downtown Ottawa and saw Gen. Hillier run by, I almost came to attention on the bus, but then realised where I was and that I was off duty.  And he wears the grey issued PT kit.

I have nothing against RCR, I originally intended on joined them anyways, but I figured I wanted to go somewhere else than Petawawa, or live somewhere different than I have all my life.  All I know about RCR and PPCLI is what I've read on here and what buddies from those regiments have told me.
