    Name Tapes

Nope. Nominal roll was sent. They were specifically not ordered until the new fiscal year because there was no budget left for them. Maybe not 'budget cuts'. But definite lack of funds.

    Name Tapes

My entire roto didn't have name tapes aside from the guys that deployed previously. They weren't even ordered by the time we left. 'Budget cuts'.

    Work after getting sworn in?

I was sworn in on the 9th, and started BMQ on the 15th, worked till the 13th. As far as I know theres no official regulations about not working between swear in date and BMQ start date, though a call to your recruiting office could answer that. Like others have said, if you are talking about...

    Farnham

We were sent to bed at 1pm thursday, and our MCpl walked our floors to make sure we slept* untill 5pm, at which point we were set free, the next Farnham week however we were CB'd Friday night and set free Saturday morning. *Funny story, i had flung all my clothes into my locker (we were rushed...

The brown Temperate Combat Boot (AKA: Mk IV Cbt Boot) - No longer CADPAT

Just a side note here, the canex in wainwright just got a huge renovation earlier this year, was happening just as I left in Febuary so I have not seen it yet, but I've heard it's a lot nicer.

Take a GoPro camera to basic?

If you want your parents to see what basic is like, Google Basic Up. Pretty much a reality TV show with several recruits that went through BMQ. Starts at week 1 and goes all the way up, and the course hasn't changed much since it was filmed (2009 I think?). P.S. We had a guy copy out a TON of...

    Room / Board question

When I got to CFSCE I had to re-prove my common-law status. Show the MPSS clerks my lease, get a copy of the stat dec I had done in basic, and a current bill showing my home address before they would start up Sep pay. Even though 3 days earlier I signed for Sep pay at my last base while clearing...

    BMQ-L [Merged]

Not only that, but every time I've gone out for a FTX we're told any kinds of energy or caffeine supplements are not allowed. And on the last one they inspected us to make sure. Jerky, Spitz, and smokes did the job for keeping me awake ;)

SQ; time off and traveling to Borden

4 Weeks in Shilo, 5am - 11pm everyday, including weekends, except 1 where we had two half days off (drill in the afternoon) CB'd the entire time, zero drinking. Basically completely depends on where you do your course, and what your staff are like, and how your course mates are. (IE if nothing...

    C7 Handling Test

Depending on your staff, if you ask nicely (or my staff offered) you can get after hours training from them. Ours was super chill, asked if we wanted more time to practice, and the night before opened the weapons classes and ran through everything we wanted until each person was comfortable. He...

BMQ Question - Trying to hard?

I can attest to this... One of our first inspections, I had never ironed in my life, so worked on one of my shirts one evening, just trying to get it to look perfect. Next morning during inspection, my Mcpl came through, said I had nice shirts, and carried on with the rest of my section. 10...

    Course number question

I've never seen the M, the 'L' however is for 'Leadership'.  NCM's have 'R' in front of their course numbers for 'Recruit'.  The official name of my BMQ course, for example, was R0xxxE,  Recruit course, 0xxx course serial, English. (the x's being your course number).

Wrist Watch Recommendations - Merged Thread

My vote also goes to the Casio G-shock line, after breaking two Timex Expeditions in the span of 4 days, I jumped off the Timex wagon and picked up this watch. Lasted the rest of BMQ, all through SQ, and day to day smashery. Not a single scratch on the face, and the strap is still as solid as...

    SQ --Soldier Qualifing

If your curious: SQ (Now BMQ (L)) is now 21 training days (1 month), and like BMQ, is section off by weeks. Week 1 is weapon familiarization with the C6, as well as various theory based classes. You spend a few days learning how to use the 522's as well. The standard PT and Inspections...

Army Communication & Information Systems Specialists (Sig Op, Lineman and LCIS Amalgamation)

Myself and a few other Sig.... ACISS (both people recruited as SigOps and LCIS) just went through SQ... BMQ (L), and it was indeed 21 training days (1 month). Not sure where this 10 weeks business is coming from, we we're told it used to be 5 weeks, but they had recently cut it back to 4 weeks...

Would a "Learner's License" cut it for Medical Technician?!

Clear as crystal, MC. My curiosity has been sated. Thanks!

Would a "Learner's License" cut it for Medical Technician?!

As a slight subject shifter, though still on topic, why is it that you require a civvi drivers license for MedTech? The only Medical vehicles I've seen around here are LS's, which the 404's qualify you to drive. Is it more related to the experience that comes with having a full drivers license...
