Am I too old, fat, or fit in? 2001 to 2016

I am 39 and just finished BMQ there is also a guy that is 42 in my class. there are challenges of course at a later age but we also have a few more tools in the toolbox to draw on as well. don't let your age be the reason you don't do it.

    Questions about joining the Reserves

I have two guys that are 16 in the regiment currently. Parental consent is required. That being said, it is highly unlikely that a 16/17 year old will be allowed to deploy even with their dp1.

Common Law Marriage in the Canadian Forces - Mega Thread

its good to be proactive here but the way I see it (and this is purely my opinion) if you have to think that these things may be an issue, it might be wirth taking a deeper look at the relationship. Then again, never hurts to cover your ass. separation and divorce are pretty common.

150th Anniversary of the Battle of Ridgeway 2-3 June 2016

Just an FYI this war is briefly described in the book "the fighting Canadians" by David Bercuson. I am currently reading it and it is a pretty in depth look at the rise of the Regimental System in Canada and a "beginners" look at Canadian Military history. Worth a read if you ask me.

    Thank you

Hoage, I can tell you from experience that there are advantages to being older. I am 39, you have some tools in the box that younger guys don't. Use them to your advantage, stay cool and push your limits to the fullest physically. And from what I've seen the Arty boys are great guys, hard as...

Enhanced Reliability Check (ERC) - Merged

From what I recall from my process by the time you get to the interview it is best to have all legal matters settled (including parking fines). any pending issues that could pull you away from your duties pose an issue. Just my two bits based on my interview

    Fast application process (what now)?

Depending on which regiment you are in and when you enrolled, you may get your kit before Parade, or issued on the first day. It really all depends on when the RQ can get it in. There were guys on my BMQ that didn't get their kit until a month into course. There is a backlog for some kit, due to...

    Fast application process (what now)?

Waldo I will say this to you, if you got through in less than a year that is amazing. it took me a year to the day and I know of guys that took much longer so congrats. In regards to BMQ I personally was told 1 week before going to BMQ (weekend course) and received no pre course package, there...

    Roller Derby?

My wife has been trying to get me to try out for the men's league in BC she plays with a team and I'm actually super impressed at the athleticism this sport demands. Anyone who scoffs at it should go to a bout and watch what happens. It'll change your mind for sure

    Roller Derby?

One of my Course staff (Mbmbr) played in Shilo, and is currently looking into playing for the Vancouver Murder. I don't see why it would be an issue unless it takes you away from your duties.
