As of right now, the only way for an AVS Tech to get into the FE trade is to be in a squadron with an FE Lead.  The FE Lead must give you a waver in order to apply to the trade.  I know this because I too am an AVS Tech (CRS back ground) and have been offered the waver by my Sqn FE Lead.  Also...
