    Army Well Rerpresented on CFRB

Of course, the one day that I didn't tune in... What was the interview about?

    Parent Problems

"Lowlifes", eh?  I work with some of the finest human beings that I've ever known in the reserves.  In their civvie jobs, they're students, lawyers, teachers, stock brokers, bankers, tradespeople, police officers, accountants, computer programmers, factory workers...the list goes on. My...

    Qualifications

You‘ll have to provide your Birth Certificate and/or proof of citizenship. If you are a landed immigrant, you may join the reserves, but you‘ll have to prove you are actively seeking Canadian citizenship. Also, to be an officer, I believe you must be a Canadian citizen.

How many push-up do you have to do?

I think there is a difference between strength (i.e bulk) and the number of reps (i.e. endurance) when you weight train. Try doing a lower weight, and more reps to increase your endurance and see if that helps you out.

    Training Tips

I‘d say that you should increase the amount of running you do by a fair amount. I did the weekend courses for my BOTP, and when we ran, we ran significantly longer than 10 or 12 minutes. If I could suggest a goal to work towards, try to work up to 10 km in about 50 - 60 minutes. Then you‘ll...

    Sit-Ups

They‘re strict about the way you do the PT, and the timings/standards. Keep working at it until you can get it. It won‘t take long.

    Interview advice (merged)

If you‘re asking if they give the genitals a once over they don‘t.

    Interview advice (merged)

Be honest. Fill out the little worksheet that they gave you in your application package before you go in for the interview. For me it was a big help. If you suck at a particular part of PT, be honest about it. Don‘t be afraid to identify a problem, and tell them what you‘re doing to deal...

    what happens if

To answer the question, I don‘t think it‘s held against you. Just train a little harder to get up to snuff, and try again -- more than a few guys were redoing the PT test when I was there.

    Saluting... just curious

Sorry, I was reading ‘wars‘, not ‘battles‘ -- in which case you‘re right.

    Saluting... just curious

I seem to recall a few other wars that Canada could claim as victories. For that matter, I can‘t think of any defeats we‘ve suffered either.

    I‘m sworn in!!

I realize it‘s late, but I‘ve been told that I don‘t need to bring anything with me except my OHIP card, my toiletry kit, towels, PT kit, and a sleeping kit... ...other than that (and the autobiography) is there anything else I need to bring? Nobody gave me a list or anything like that.

    A answer to Robert Scott

In the Mobile Infantry (of Starship Troopers) officers are commissioned exclusively from the ranks. There is no DEO or anything similar. Actually, I just finished re-reading Starship Troopers. It‘s an excellent book, and quite different, and a lot better than the movie based on it.
