OK, I'm honestly conflicted about the issue but I'll take a stab at that.  I think the basic idea (emotion?) is that all life is beautiful and all death is heinous.  I don't mean to be glib or poetic.  I just think that an argument against capital punishment comes down to that basic sentiment...
