    Help naming Arty Officer.

To corroborate, my father in law figures it's Dave Walters as well.

    Help naming Arty Officer.

My father in law was in Shilo around that time.  I've forwarded it to him to see if he has any idea.

    Whither the Artillery

I think a few things need to be clarified.  Firstly, as much as the Infantry didn't want to give up the mortars, the Artillery didn't want them.  The vast majority of gunners feel that mortars are an infantry weapon, but the skill was passed to the arty to simply free up PY's. Secondly, the Air...

    Herbie

Don't think so.  The cartoon Herbie was a gunner, hence the name. I am by no means an expert, though.

    1 or 2 RCHA

I spent all my regimental time in 1 Horse.  It is a fantastic regiment with motivated soldiers and good officers. I think both regiments have something to offer, but most people who grew up in Ontario hate the idea of going to Shilo as it is far too distant from the centre of the universe...

Captain Nichola K.S. Goddard killed in Afghanistan (17 May 2006)

Nichola was a very good friend of mine and my wife.  We consider it an honour to have known her.... we're still pretty shaken up. To those of you who may not have had the opportunity to make her acquaintance, she is quite possibly the nicest person I have ever met.  Her and her husband...

Need help on some research for a paper...

Yep, it's a FA Journal article called "The Fight For Fallujah".  It's artillery-specific, but may have some interesting info. Here's a link http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/WO0511/S00185.htm

Need help on some research for a paper...

I think I have an article called the fight for Fallujah somewhere around here. I'll try to find it and tell you what journal it came from (I think it was the US Field Arty Journal).

    The "Nursing Officer" Merged Thread

My wife is joining the Reg F as a NO. I'm curious what cap badge she will wear during BOTP.  I'm trying to help her prepare so she's not walking around St Jean with an elephant slipper beret like I did. Also, will her slip ons say CANADA or MEDICAL?

    Mortars: 51 mm, 60 mm, 81 mm, 120 mm & more

This doesn't solve the problem that drove the army to task the artillery with mortars.  The available PYs didn't increase, they decreased.  By giving the task to the artillery, at least the army kept the skill "in house" by double hatting the gunners.  If you post them to an infantry battalion...

    Mini UAVs and 'B' bty

COE should be the STA Tp of Tactics Bty, Field Arty School (RCA).  SI STA is a good friend of mine, and he's been really busy with UAV doctrine lately, so I'm assuming he's going to be the COE.

    New CF Fitness Policies Coming

I think it's about time somebody decided to actually enforce the standards we claim to espouse.  The Expres test cannot be considered difficult by any stretch of the imagination. In my opinion, if you consider yourself a soldier and cannot successfully complete it, you have so greviously...

    Mini UAVs and 'B' bty

I was just down in Picatinny arsenal on an industry tour. We were told that Canada is not purchasing the digital fire control system by the US Army M777 project manager.  Maybe I heard wrong... it appears what goober is referring to is some sort of gun laying system, which is different from an...
