Question , does anybody actually read reports anymore ?

I seem to recall reading that first we weren't even going to deploy ground troops. Then it was a Brigade and then a Division . The Government of the day was apparently blindsided by the depth of public support for the war. In some cases they actually seemed baffled by it .

There's a theory that was floating around that if we'd been able to manage an Army Group we might have gotten a seat on the Security Council. I don't buy it myself.

Harper didn't have a choice and it looked good to the electorate. Political expediency is the deciding factor. For all our political parties. When the war started to get unpopular with the voters , DND became just another Department that was causing him problems. Defence issues don't win...

My thoughts exactly .

At this current point in time the Americans simply can not be trusted. They are so embroiled and consumed by their domestic politics. That they are unable to view the world outside their borders except for how it fits into their current ideological infighting to the exclusion of anything else.

The sad part is if you look at our country's history. You see that we keep doing this. Over and over. What's the definition of insanity again ?

Sorry that was incredibly badly written. What I meant that unless it's built by the London plant it most likely will not be purchased for the Army. So until they produce a tracked vehicle. And as long as the Government party considers those area ridings important to retaining their position. I...

Until GDLS in London starts building tracked vehicles. The Army will not get any . Unless the various ridings in the area consistently vote for the opposition party. And then it's anyone's guess.

Translation; We intend to kick this down the road......again.

One of the reasons as I understand it that Australians pulled out of their contract. Was that the French seemed to view actually dealing with their counterparts and customers as offensive. And went out of their way to ignore them .

It's an easy out to blame our political leadership for all our problems. Personally I'd say it was 60-40 for our problems with the systems we put in place being major reasons for our problems.
