    Updated Army Service Dress project

I'm not quite as old as rmc_wannabe suggests but, trust me, I wore high collared tunics (and tightly knotted ties, too) on many a parade square on many a hot day. In fact a well fitted high collared tunic is, in my experience, always more comfortable than a starched collar and tie. One does not...

    Updated Army Service Dress project

Caution: geezer eruption Back to the Army's new service dress ... I have no strong feelings, one way or the other, except for one thing: there is NO flamin' need for any service dress at all, ever. Soldiers need: 1. A combat uniform - almost certainly several variations in colour, weight...

Hate gate...the Canadian bogeyman or a real problem?

Slightly off topic but related to Mr Mendicino's remarks: I remain suspicious that there was a "second team" involved in the Ottawa "occupation." It always seemed pretty clear to me that the "front face" of the occupation, Ms Lich et al, and the people most evident on and around Wellington St...

I suppose I understand the fascination with uniforms from circa 1965 - the year before Paul Heller changed everything - but the beret is a Johnny-come-lately bit of kit from the 1930s and '40s. This is a real Army cap - loads of room for regimental "expressions of identity."

    Updated Army Service Dress project

OK ... I assume officers and CWOs will be given a clothing allowance to allow them have service dress uniforms properly tailored - a Sam Browne worn on a poorly fitted/improperly tailored uniform looks sloppy. I also hope that all officers and CWOs will understand that it takes hours and bloody...

    Chinese Military,Political and Social Superthread

This, in The Economist, goes with something a young Hong Kong friend said: 'China,' she said, 'feels broken," or something like that. 'Xi Jinping promises and promises and promises and fails to deliver. We hear - of course no one actually knows - that internal opposition is building. We are...

    Informing the Army’s Future Structure

ABCA and AUSCANZUKUS/CCEB were, I can say withy reasonable authority, the g old standard for military standardization in the 1960s, '70s, and 80s. Almost every single NATO C3 STANAGb that mattered began life as either ABCA QSTAG or a CCEB proposal. The reason was simple: small teams (four or...
