Your situation smells political, thread with caution. An employer balking at giving a reservist 3 days for training one fall, then 2 weeks for training the next summer, seems to be flirting dangerously with bad, bad PR in the land of Alberta. There must be more context to your situation...

PRes MP platoons do not belong to their local reserve brigades, but rather to a reserve company, which is part of a RegF MP Regiment. You will not get far if you try to go through 33 CBG, if your intent is to join the MPs. There is a reserve MP platoon in Ottawa: 33 MP Platoon. I think, IIRC...

Don't get me wrong, I tend to be underwhelmed when unmotivated troops complain about doing the same training over and over, while still not being able to recall basic info. Sure we do battle procedure every year, but how many can rattle off something close to the 15/16/17 steps? Sigh.

Conflicts with other commitments is always code words for: the training is not interesting/challenging enough.
