WWIII is not going to happen any time soon. The only countries capable of winning a nuclear war are smart enough not to start one in the first place.

For the purpose of debating long distance transmission, that diagram is not exactly useful. It counts losses after customer delivery, during low voltage distribution, during generation, all of which are common losses regardless of which technology you use. Worst of all, a third of the 'losses'...

It's always the way though, and extends well beyond this kind of thing. Those who help get blamed for everything that doesn't go perfectly, even if they are not the cause of it, and were trying to help.
