Simon Logan v. Her Majesty The Queen

Yeah it's most likely they have multiple teams because of the class size. Some files are naturally going to be relatively simple to proceed, while others will require more work.

Just writing an update. I received my payment today from Manulife. Only Allowance I was eligble for was PLD, I received what I roughly thought it would be today, a little over 5k. Halifax posting. I have not received any letter stating break down yet. I released at end of Summer 2016, So it...

    2024 Wildfire Season

How does everyone feel about a national response team for forest fire fighting? Something like a 5 to 10k standing force that can be drawn upon during the forest fire season . Use the off season for their downtime and training. The issue isn't going to get better any time soon and this is a...

I think the biggest difference is if it is showing pn your final pay or not. If it is it should be included with no issues. If it isn't it may not.

Britain's Conservatives planning to bring back compulsary national service.

That's not unique to this or any other thing most politicians pass.

Big difference with volunteer unpaid work vs compulsory paid work. Not many can afford to volunteer 30+ hours a week with no income being received.

Britain's Conservatives planning to bring back compulsary national service.

There has been a lot of good points and arguments brought up. I think the biggest thing is what would constitute 'national' service? I don't think it necessarily has to be military occupations only, it could encompass many areas that are outside the traditional grounds of the military. Some...

Britain's Conservatives planning to bring back compulsary national service.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cpddxy9r4mdo Curious about people's thoughts on this. AFAIK Germany abolished theirs in 2011 but with rumbings they plan on reinstating it. And it seems most nations in Europe that border Russia still have some form of it. Along with several nations around the...

    Iran Super Thread- Merged

The best thing about figure heads.... they are easily replaced, and even easier to remove by those who hold the strings.

I don't have easy access to my release papers right now, but I remember my last pay from the CAF had PLD, the first pay from SISIP Manulife the month after didn't. Along with the other pay hit. There is a chance I'm misrembering as this was 8 years ago now and I have trouble remember what I...

Simon Logan v. Her Majesty The Queen

Yeah in my situation I was on SISIP for 2 years and then I switched back to VAC IRB which eventually became DEC. I did receive PLD on my last pay before SISIP took over. I went into this thinking if i got something nice, if not ah well. But good advice for people not to bank on it...

Yeah good to point this out, will clear up confusion by some people. I personally don't expect much, if any at all, because I was only in receipt of PLD on release, since I was attached to a shore office for my ship I had no sea pay.

Interesting, would be good to see how they break it down. But if this ends up not paying out PLD, it's going to be a huge disappointment to a lot of people. Were you in a receipt of PLD on retirement?

    Any Ex Pat members here?

Thanks, some good info there. I knew a little bit about the withholding tax. It's not so much I want to avoid paying taxes(not against that) but the risk of double taxation (very against that). Maybe some of the questions are more apt for a accountant who specializes in those things. AFAIK...
